Michael Wayne Tolbert, 58, of Brookhaven, MS, passed away March 21, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born on April 13, 1967, to James Tolbert and Willie Jean Thompson Tolbert.
Mike was a very resourceful man. He inquired a very successful carpet and upholstery cleaning business and worked very hard and diligently to continue to see it grow. He was a man of few words but had incredible abilities to build anything and to work with his hands.
He had a great, big, caring heart and loved deeply those closest to him, although sometimes it seemed more like tough love. He always meant well. He leaves behind a very treasured grove of orange trees with whom he spent a lot of time.
He was loved and cherished by his family. He left behind memories, some silly, some sweet. From building tractors and winches, to making holidays sweet for his little girl, Danielle, he always gave a generous effort to everything he did. He had a special way about him to show how much he cared.
Preceding him in death are his parents, James and Jean Tolbert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Danielle Tolbert and Lacey Mann; brothers, Ronnie Tolbert and Jimmy Tolbert (Harrlyn); sisters, Billie Smith (Bruce) and Cindy Lightsey; and three grandchildren, Bentley Jackson, Brayden Graham, and Wyatt Graham.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cliffton Case and the oncology team at UMMC for their compassionate care given to Mike.
We will love you, miss you, and cherish your memory forever.
